Getting started
Getting started with Core1440
What Core1440 does, and the first few things to do, depending on your role.
Core1440 keeps a church's books and giving in one place: the gifts people give, their tax receipts, and the church's accounts and reports. Each person sees only what their role allows.
The home page
The home page shows one thing at a time. The card at the top, Next up, is the most useful thing for you to do now. Under it is a short list of everything else you can open, including Connected assistants for asking Claude or ChatGPT about your organization. See Ask Claude or ChatGPT about your organization.
If you're setting up your church (owner or treasurer)
- Add your charity's details: its name, registration number and address, as the CRA has them. See Add your charity's details.
- Set up your books, from the church chart of accounts or by bringing them in from QuickBooks. See Set up your books and Bring your books in from QuickBooks.
- Add the people who help with the money, and choose what each can do. See Add people and choose what they can do.
- Add households and start recording gifts. See Add and update households and Record gifts from the offering or the mail.
- At year end, check every family's receipt under Year-end receipts. See Check the year's receipts before they go out.
- If you'd like AI to help with slow bookkeeping work, an owner can turn it on under Settings, after seeing what's sent. It's off until then. See AI help with the books.
- A new organization starts on a 30-day free trial. Before it ends, an owner chooses a plan under Billing. See Billing and the Core1440 licence.
If someone has added you
Sign in with your email address. If your role can see the books, you'll also set up a second step the first time; see Set up and use your second step. After that, the home page shows what's next for you.
Getting help
Every screen has a Help link at the top with the articles for that screen. You can also search the help, or ask a question in your own words; see Find help.
