How to
Add and update households
How to add a household (the family or person a tax receipt goes to), find one, change its name or address, and add the people in it.
A household is whoever a tax receipt is made out to: usually a family, or a person who gives on their own. Gifts are recorded against households.
Steps
- On the home page, press Households.
- To find one, type part of a name, street or email in Find a household and press Find.
- To add one, fill in Add a household at the bottom:
- Name for the receipt, as it should appear on the receipt, for example John and Mary Smith;
- Mailing address, one line per row;
- Email, if you have it.
- Press Add the household. Its page opens.
- To add the people in it, open Add a person, type their names and press Add the person.
- To fix the name or address later, open Change the name or address, make the change and press Save the changes.
Good to know
- A receipt can't be issued without a mailing address. A household with none shows a note saying its receipt will be held. Add the address as soon as you have it.
- Use one household for a couple who give together, with both names in Name for the receipt. If they want separate receipts, make two households.
- Each household's page shows its gifts this year and the total. To look back, press the link for the year before, for example See 2025.
- Recording gifts: see Record gifts from the offering or the mail.
- For a church with a school, each family's page also has Children at the school and Tuition. See Record children at the school, and tuition.
