How to
Set up and use your second step
For roles that can see the books, how to set up a passkey, text messages, an authenticator app or printed backup codes, and use one when you sign in.
People who can see the church's books confirm it's really them with a second step, as well as the emailed code. You choose how.
Steps
- The first time you sign in, Core1440 asks you to Choose your second step.
- Pick the easiest for you:
- Set up a passkey: uses the fingerprint reader, face unlock or PIN you already use on this computer or phone. There are no codes to type.
- A text message to your mobile: type Your mobile number, press Text me a code, then type the code and press Finish.
- Printed backup codes: press Make my backup codes, then print the page or write the 10 codes down. Each code works once.
- An authenticator app on your phone: scan the picture with the app, then type the 6-digit code it shows and press Finish.
- Next time you sign in, you'll see One more step. Use your passkey, type the code, or choose Use another way.
- To skip the second step on this computer for 30 days, tick Remember this computer for 30 days. Only do this on your own computer.
Good to know
- Set up a second way too, so you're never locked out. After your first one, the home page offers Print a sheet of backup codes. Keep them in a drawer at home.
- Making a new sheet of backup codes stops the old ones from working.
- After 5 wrong codes, Core1440 stops that sign-in to keep your account safe and takes you back to Sign in. Start again with a new emailed code.
- Lost your phone, passkey and codes? Ask your organization's owner to reset your sign-in. See Add people and choose what they can do.
